TSi completed a geotechnical study for the design of three new bridges for pedestrian/bicycle traffic along the River des Peres channel. Services included bridge foundation recommendations, evaluations of the settlement for bridge embankments, and stability assessment of the existing channel slope. TSi provided construction observation during all phases of the drilled pier installation and provided down-hole assessment of limestone bedrock supporting each pier.
St. Ferdinand Park Bridge

TSi performed a subsurface investigation and geotechnical engineering evaluation for the replacement of the existing pedestrian bridge over Coldwater Creek along the west end of St. Ferdinand Park. The existing bridge, 60 feet in length and six feet wide, was removed and replaced with a new bridge , a pre-engineered structure 12 feet wide and 80 feet long to span from embankment to embankment with no interior supports. TSi’s exploration consisted of two soil test borings using hollow-stem auger drilling methods, one drilled to a depth of 70 feet and the other to a depth of 60 feet. Split-spoon and Shelby tube samples were recovered from each boring and an open-standpipe piezometer installed in one boring. TSi conducted a laboratory testing program on the soil samples, and provided assessments and recommendations regarding shallow foundations, settlement, lateral earth pressures and regional seismicity.
